Introducing Hampstead Chiropractor Dr. Todd Winebrenner
I always had an interest in a career in a health related field but I never was interested in the more traditional “White Coat” professions. You see growing up; my mother and sister suffered with asthma and I had many older relatives that seemed to age with increasingly poor health. In every case, in spite of all of the measures that were taken to help them with their afflictions, I was never really impressed with the results.
I had always been involved with athletics and thought this was where I would pursue my health career interests. During my sophomore year in college my Aunt introduced me to her Chiropractor, the late Dr. Craig Schmall of Westminster MD. He was the first Chiropractor I ever knew and although I understood very little about Chiropractic, I knew that it was a different approach and very special.
After completing my Biology degree at The University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) in 1989, I was off to The National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, Illinois. My 5 academic years of study at National, included courses in biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, x-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the National’s Public Clinic in the Chicago suburbs.
I believe that the human body was designed by God to be a thriving, self healing machine. What an amazing creation! I am constantly amazed at how resilient our bodies are to the things we subject them to including stress, trauma, inadequate sleep, toxins in our food and water, poor diet etc. I believe my part in this world is to help those whom God sends my way by helping them improve their health in some way. To do this requires that I must assume many different roles in the process. In any given day I have been known to be a teacher, coach, counselor, pastor, parent, big brother and friend.
The longer I practice the more I realize that most people do not really understand what it takes to be healthy. Some think they are doomed to a life of ill health and pain. Others are convinced that their existence is dependent on what pills they have to take or what procedures they need to have done to “fix’ them.
Although I am thankful for the availability of the medications and procedures that exist in medicine today, I am growing more and more convinced that our bodies are more amazing and capable than we ever imagined. We have amazing abilities to heal and thrive and I am convinced that those who are faithful in the process are never disappointed. In my experience those with a drive to improve their health and heal…..do. The stronger the urge, the more dramatic the changes.
In my practice, we make every effort possible to create a comfortable environment that is uplifting and relaxing. We make it easy to be a patient whether it be in how we handle our scheduling to how we handle our financial arrangements. We understand life is just so busy and stressful, and we want anything associated with us and our office to be easy and relaxing.
In over 13 years of practice the most satisfying aspects of practice have been the relationships I have had with so many people. I’ve seen children grow into adults, and parents become grandparents. Some have even passed on beyond this world. My satisfaction comes in knowing my efforts have made a difference in peoples lives ranging from how they play with their kids, relate with their spouse, perform with their job, or even just find happiness within themselves.
My wife Chris and I began dating during our senior year at Westminster High School and dated throughout college. We married after my first year of chiropractic school. We were blessed with my daughter Mackenzie just prior to graduation and our return to Maryland. Several years later, Samuel and then Benjamin arrived. We recently added a Cockapoo named Sophie to our family just to add some excitement. We have lived just over the Mason Dixon Line in Hanover, PA since 2002. In addition to following the Baltimore Ravens football team, I enjoy the NASCAR racing series, and American history.
You should know that I visit with my chiropractor on a weekly basis because I know it keeps my nervous system healthy. I also check my family each week and give them adjustments to help them grow and stay healthy. It may seem different, but my children are not vaccinated, and don't take any medications yet they are rarely sick and never seem to come down with an ear infection or even a cold for that matter like their friends seem to. (By the way, I would love to talk about this with you sometime.)
Well, Enough about me! I know you probably have some questions and are probably wondering if you would benefit from today’s safe and natural chiropractic care. I would be glad to help you find out. Give us a call so we can help you take your first step towards better health.
